Homeless Resources
McKinney-Vento Homeless Education Assistance Act is a state law that protects the rights of homeless children and youth, allowing them to receive a free and appropriate public education. Students can be classified as homeless if they meet certain criteria including, but not limited to, the following:
- Do not have a permanent address
- Do not live with a parent or legal guardian
- Live temporarily doubled-up with friends or family
- Sleep in a shelter
- Sleep in a campground, car, abandoned building, or other facilities not designated for, not ordinarily used as a regular accommodation for human beings
